Never Give Up

So this was my dream/goal to attain when I was a dancer, a Side Tilt. This has all the elements in it, the flexibility to allow your legs to go into that position, the strength you need to hold the leg up and of course the balance. It came so naturally to other dancers but for me, I was constantly struggling as I never had a full split or a middle split or a straddle split. I didn’t even have the “S” of strength in my body at that time. But let’s just say hard work does pay off.

7 years later I can now do a side tilt. That also in heels. (It’s not perfect but it’s getting there.) Everyone takes “their” own time. Some get results really fast and some get it slow. Either way, it’s YOUR journey. Consistency and to be persistent is the key to anything. Just keep working your butt off. Every day matters. Eventually you will start seeing changes. Don’t get attached to it. Just like you don’t get attached to your setbacks. You’re constantly learning.  Have your moments of happiness (Celebrate it. Always important!) but continue working, continue striving.

It may seem impossible, it may seem difficult and giving up might be the easiest way out. But you know what? IT IS THE EASIEST WAY OUT!!! You are closer than you were yesterday. So just continue…

“Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are tons of ups and downs. It’s a journey of discovery – there are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys of despair.” -Rick Warren

And it’s a constant battle with the self. You will feel like giving up. You’re tired, you’re sore and then there are days you just don’t see any progress in your practice or fitness. Every part of your body hurts. And it’s OKAY. Breathe. Take a break if you have to but don’t settle there. Be kind to yourself. Listen to your body. Don’t fight with it. Learn. Understand. Keep learning. Keep understanding yourself. Get up the next day and keep going. It’s a new day full of opportunities. Don’t let yesterday bring you down. You are capable of much more than you think!!
